A Confession
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=16348253 is the story of a man admitting that he has forsaken religion and become a not theist. I’m struck both by the story and by the fact that at the end he thanks 3 people for helping him along this path and I am one of them (under the name Zafkiel).
I never really knew and don’t know James Brown I’ve been posting on the Atheist Fools board for the last 18 months and never thought I was converting anyone. I thought I was speaking to other atheists most of the time, arguing about assumptions others. More to the point I’ve been pretty inactive lately and to hear a thank you for guiding me through giving up religion is very striking.
At the same time I am proud that a man took the time to think things through and had the courage to follow his mind and heart.
I’m honored to have helped in that path.
