Trended weight this morning…. 200.01. Thats not fair missing the milestone by .02 pounds. Anyway should hit the milestone tomorrow unless I really mess up. Though I’m going 2 days in a row without running so it’s possible.

    My whole weight management stratagem pretty directly derives from the Hackers Diet (http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/hackdiet.html). Interestingly enough I first found it when searching Jonh Walker Lindh (an American citizen detained in Afghanistan back in 2001). The John Walker of the Hacker's Diet is founder of Autodesk and approaches weight management as an engineering problem.

    So basically I get feedback daily from the trended weight. So I know how I'm doing. And (almost) everyday I do the exercises suggested in his exercise ladder (I'm on on rung 22 now).

    I sort of added running to the whole thing by accident. One day I decided I needed to clear my head after work so I went for a walk as it was a nice day. I got back feeling more awake and generally better for the experience. So i started walking everyday after work, walking further each day. Eventually I got up to 2 miles and decided that I didn't really want to walk any further and so added a bit of running to my mostly walking. At this point I run about 3/4ths of the two miles. I do that about 4-6 times per week.

    I did this once before without the running but with better food discipline and lost 45 pounds, though not quickly. And once I stopped trying to lose weight I sort of fell off the wagon so to speak. I tried to get back on the wagon, last year but got in a serious car accident and exercise more serious than turning my neck was pretty much out for a long while. Finally got going again and am doing pretty good having lost 14.99 pounds.

    If I'm doing everything correctly I'm losing about a pound a week, though over the lifetime of this weight loss cycle I'm averaging losing about .74 pounds a week.

    I should disclaim that I have a fairly significant advantage in losing weight. I get no real hunger signals. I eat my nutrigrain bar in the morning and lunch and then I'm pretty much done and that doesn't cause any discomfort.

    That's about all I do.
