Society has risen and fallen over the the last 13,000 years. We rose and became masters of our solar system. We learned we were not alone, but we didn’t share the universe with another corporeal race. We shared it with the nephilim, spirits who were the makers of our universe.With the help of the nephilim we reached across the gulf between the stars and settle other star systems. Then Disaster stuck a weapon of war was released, slowly working away Known Space corroding and destroying refined metal wherever it was found.Without metal, the survivors learned to create great biotech artifacts. The Tribes of Man who survived bound together and formed the One Tribe. A great society and culture flourished.
It came crashing down, when men intent on destruction engineered a virus to destroy men’s knowledge. They failed to affect man, but all of his libraries and centers knowledge fell.
The One Tribe broke into it’s 13 pieces, the cities fragmented into city-states. The great Church of Anquon fragmented and spawned the competing Holy Nephilim Church of Light. There was fighting between cities, between tribes, between faiths. The fighting lasted thousands of years. Only now are cities emerging from the darkness.
In Mazur, King Darius Rumah is at the end of his life. Succession is uncertain, the two great faiths are at each other’s throats, Mazur is locked in conflict with Woolette for influence over Gateway.
